Door Resurrection...just in time for Easter

We're trying to use the same doors we had before--after all of that sourcing and fitting, and despite the warping, splitting, peeling.....and the slight change in the height and level of the floor.

As Joel put it...they need a lot of love at this point. One of the meter closet doors below needs to be really tweaked.

And the antique knob on the bedroom door no longer turns ...hopefully some taking apart and WD-40 will do the trick..if not, it's back to square one.

Flooring (again)

Yesterday a couple of guys came to sand and seal the floors.

They seem redder than the ones upstairs, probably a different type of oak.

Maybe too red? We're thinking about a light whitewash after everything else is done....but for now they'll get papered and we'll move on with finishing the trim, hanging the doors, tiling the bath, and painting....

Paperwork is tiring....

Verrrrrry tiring.

Major progress, huh? Three cats, one table...no hissing....!

June 1959

From the Brooklyn Historical Society....the corner of Wolcott St and Richards....diagonal from my street --where the public school now stands.

Slow momentum is still momentum...

Things are moving along, little by little...the meter closets are back (sans doors)....

The boiler room got a fresh coat of paint (which means I can order my replacement washer and dryer!!!!! Hallelujah!)

The doors and windows are starting to be trimmed...

And most of the walls are primed.
Did I mention I could order my washer/dryer? Now...what am I going to do with all of these quarters I've been hoarding?

Guess What!

More walls!

If you think I'm excited about this...just wait until the taping begins....

Finally...a little post-storm momentum!

I never thought sheetrock could be so beautiful...

and that I could love walls quite so much.

Blow it up.

I mean..."in".
Today I got insulated. The blow-in kind.

Doesn't it look like the interior of some weird alien spaceship....?
